An interdisciplinary graduate student conference theorizing dance, performance, and the body, Dance Under Construction 8: Breaking It Down includes presenters from UCR, from throughout the UC system, and from across the United States. Inspired by the significance of the ‘break’ in black music and dance practices, presentations will explore the break in relation to a larger body of theory, disciplines and practices through both papers and performances. It is a particular aim of Breaking It Down to challenge divisions between theoretical and practical modes of research and presentation.
