The Department of Dance at University California, Riverside is searching for a lecturer in contemporary urban dance, styles can include but are not limited to: poppin, lockin, boogaloo, krumpin, breakin (inclusive of uprockin and all arial/floor maneuvers), b-boyin/girlin, and industrial dance technique (music video style "urban" and or "hip hop").

Responsibilities: Candidate will teach a multi level studio dance course to meet twice weekly for the Winter and Spring quarters of Academic Year 2007-08.

Salary: This is a 20% lecturer position, paying a total of $5200 across 6 months.

Start Date: Position will begin Jan 1, 2008.

End Date: Position ends June 30, 2008.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have several years teaching experience either in professional dance studios or university environments; a history of choreographing for performance is a plus.

The search is open from October 24 until November 26. Applications received after that time will not be considered.

Electronic submissions of dance samples will also be accepted through YouTube, MySpace and Yahoo Video. Please indicate the URL of your sample in your letter if utilizing this option. DVD submissions are preferred, but you may also submit video that contains ONLY the sample work. We will not be able to cue videos. Sorry, but videos must be in NTSC and DVDs in area 1. Please include SASE for return of materials, otherwise they will be discarded once the search has closed.

The Department of Dance offers curricula that lead to a B.A. in Dance, an MFA in Dance with emphasis on Experimental Choreography, and the first Ph.D. in Dance History and Theory in the world.
